Montañita is the perfect combination of sea and vegetation.

We can find 3 major sectors in Ecuador Montañita.

  • Village: 300 meters x 1.5 km (really small!)
  • Trigrillo neighborhood: 100 meters from the town, going to the mountains, is situated this neighborhood where the vegetation is plentiful and the fauna is varied (butterflies, birds and others)
  • The Point: perfect combination of vegetation and beach. Main surf point.

What To Do...

  • You can learn surf in different schools, bike renting, horse riding. Also you can learn Spanish with different teachers and you can find a school of Spanish which combines surfing, diving and other options while you learn. The nightlife is spectacular. All night you can find a party, three discotheques, lots of bars.
  • 45 minutes from the town is situated Valdivia. You can go there to the museum of the pre Inka culture "Valdivia".
  • At one hour is Puerto Lopez. This is the ideal place to take a tour to see the whales. You can ask in a tour agency how to go from Montañita .From July to November is the see season.
  • Parque Nacional Machalilla (Natural): Half an hour from Puerto Lopez you can go to the Machalilla National Park. In this natural area you ll find the beach Los Frailes, considered to be the most beautiful of the area, two hour walking from the entrance of the park. (U$ 15 foreign people,U$3 Ecuadorians).
  • You can see interesting town in the area like Manglaralto (the next south town from Montañita), Dos Mangas (going to the mountain in Manglaralto), Olon (the next north town).
